"Key innovation indicators - Learning from principles and practices applied by professional industrial players and investors". NIFU participated in this project led by Menon Business Economics. The aim of this project was to review indicators of innovation, currently in use in the Nordic countries and suggest improvements.

Public sector has often tended to be seen as a static framework for the dynamism and innovation in the private sector. However, in recent years there has been an increasing acknowledgement that innovation is not limited to the private sector. In order to maintain high quality of public services in meeting demographic changes and growing pressures on public services innovation becomes crucial.

There are ongoing patent wars in the Smartphone market, reflecting a growing challenge related to complex technological systems. The article addresses the question of how to clarify the rights of various interests, who are sitting on large patent portfolios. It also looks at systems that could handle these kinds of challenges in a more efficient manner.
