Early Leaving, Non-Completion and Completion in Upper Secondary Education in Norway
15 des 2011In one way, the Norwegian system of education can be understood as part of the Nordic model – an egalitarian, redistributive system. Upper secondary education is by and large public, as are other types of education. From an international perspective, the Norwegian Parliament was from very early on, as early as 1920, ready to adopt the principle of a common school for all (Dokka, 1988). The right to freely available public education was extended from 7 years at the end of the Second World War to 13 years from 1997; 10 of these years are compulsory.
