the EU-level study ‘Citizenship education in initial vocational education and training (VET)’, is part of the ongoing work on key and transversal competences.
The overarching goal of the study is to explore how citizenship competences are developed and supported within initial VET systems, both at the policy and provider
levels. Specifically, the study aims to:
• understand how citizenship education is embedded in national initial VET
frameworks and curricula;
• analyse how citizenship education is implemented in practice at provider level,
in both school- and company-based settings;
• identify barriers and enablers to implementation of citizenship education;
• gather perspectives from learners, teachers, trainers, and school/company staff
on citizenship education;
• identify and document good practices.
